City commission OKs $4 million for downtown housing project -- but not yet - Local - News-Sentinel.com

Interesting in the article. The developer for the new Skyline Tower said a couple restaurants will be going in the retail space. Great lakes in the past has developed Ruth Chris Steak houses, but they neither confirmed no denied that one would be going in downtown. Is that something that we would support or would be excited about?

That would be great. Would love a Ruth's here, but is Fort Wayne big enough?

There's a Ruth's Chris in Mishawaka. If the South Bend area could support one, I would think Fort Wayne could.

I think one of the next major announcements will be a Whole Foods or Trader Joe's in the southwest side of the city or maybe downtown.

Some things in the pipeline for the Fort.

The biggest is Riverfront development. If you haven't seen the plans check out Renderings - Riverfront Fort Wayne
Riverfront has the potential for more highrise housing and upscale eateries.

•City scape flats is around 163 housing units downtown

• Talks of a new downtown arena right across from Parkview field.

• Meetings are now taking place of what to do with the old GE complex in downtown. That could be a big development as well.

• And just announced Skyline tower which is going to house the Ruth Chris Steakhouse.
