My husband is looking at transferring to Burleston. We currently live in Nebraska. Another option to move to would be Denver but the housing is not very affordable. The housing in Burleston seems to be very affordable. Could anyone tell me some more about the city, is it a good place to raise kids, what are the schools like? I have also heard stories about spiders, scorpions, etc and was wondering how often I would be seeing those in that part of texas Any information anyone could give me would be greatly appreciated!

Burleson TX is a great place to raise a family. Just south of Fort Worth. The schools are wonderful.
Coming from Nebraska to Texas is quite a change. It will take some getting use to. I know because I moved here from Iowa. Over 30 years ago ... Honestly I never thought I would stay here and like it... I missed the family that I had to leave behind ( Mom etc... there wasn't the internet back then and long distance was terribly expensive.)
The best part is NO MORE 6 months of Winter! AND It's all about Family!

There are snakes here and spiders ... yes the poison kind too but you probably won't have to see them often. Especially if you live in the city. (people will clue you in... you'll know what to look for and where and when they are common.) There are fire ants here and they are just about every where ... you ll see them a lot ... look those up... they hurt .... they sting, they burn... they itch and a lot of people have no tolerance for them and have to go to the emergency room. No one told us about those. but it only takes once to learn.

I've lived in North Texas for over 30 years. The last time I saw a scorpian was in Des Moines, IA in 1972. The last time I saw a poisoness snake was in 1993 -- a mocassin at White Rock Lake. I hike and camp regularly in N.TX.
