It makes a lot more sense than being in the Big East Conference. I look forward to some great contests, although TCU isn't so hot this year.

Good for them! Maybe they will take Houston if Mizzou leaves.

I'm an old-time, long-time TCU supporter, and I couldn't be happier! I think the best thing that ever happened to us was not being invited into the Big 8. It forced our hand and made us become the athletic powerhouse we are today.

Despite DeLoss Dodds protests, the other Big 12 schools prevailed, as well as good sense and the networks, and TCU was invited. I doubt that we will ever win the Big 12 conference, ever, but we belong there, and we can compete. I am really excited!!!

I think it's a terrible idea. Why go to the Big 12? They spat on us for years, but now everyone's leaving they suddenly love us? And do we really want to be in a conference that is an OU sneeze away from disintegrating? I dont think the PAC 12 shadow is going away anytime soon, if they do come a calling, do you think Texas and OU would take US along for the ride? methinks not. By then the Big East will be gone, say hello CUSA!

mistake--IMO
and patterson has recruited some problem children this year--
before he had to get players that were second tier because top tier went to other schools--
as TCU has gotten more notice and better results, it has been able to pick cream of the crop--
so many of those players come with attitude that is not really that great--
they are prima donnas lot of times

before he was having to coach players to be better and to raise their own sense of confidence--
that built teams

now he has "individuals" too conscious of their own ability to go pro--
this is case where he should be stayed with exactly the type of player he had been recruiting--
this season has young players, yes--but TCU has had that situation before...
the difference is in attitude and committment of those players--
other seasons players were grateful to get recognized for scholarships and playing on team of TCU status--his players graduate as well--

I wonder about this new set--I bet we see that graduation rate start dropping...

you may be right about that...although I wonder if it's just the fact that in the past, TCU was always the under dog, pretty much ignored as everyone jumped on the UT/OU/A&M band wagons...now after several years of steady improvement culminating in winning the Rose Bowl last year things have changed, we're not an under dog anymore...now expectations are much higher and perhaps the pressure is getting to everyone? That Baylor game is the perfect example. We should have taken care of them I thought (but give credit where it's due, Baylor played their butts off).

Yes, I think what you're saying comes with the territory of being a winner and getting national recognition. But I think GP will kick their butts and then kick them off the team if those kids become a disruptive influence.

But if you think accepting the Big 12 invitation is a mistake, where do you think TCU belongs? What conference is better suited to TCU's demographics, geography, history than the Big 12? Should they go on to the Big East that's losing several of its football members? Should they stay in the MWC without a BCS berth? What's better?

If the Big 12 is falling apart, like another poster said earlier, what conference isn't right now? What school isn't jockeying for position to better improve itself? I think the only conference with no worries is the SEC.

Give this young group a chance. They have done nothing wrong up to this point.
