Highlights from the article:

Is it reasonable to think that a bus oriented organization (a bad one a that) can successfully transition to a transit system.

It's quite evident from the article that DART is more of a competitor than a actual partner with FWTA. In other words DART wants the FWTA to fail, so they can gain regional dominance. Quite frankly I don't think this is a bad idea.

Tex-Rail completion date has been pushed back to 2018 and the council has indicated it could possibly shut down the project all together.

FWTA has still not reached deals with key railroad agencies including DART to use there tracks to provide service. IMO I think the idea of leasing rail lines, instead of buying the rail lines out right is dumb and will only prove to be more expensive and a big hassle in the long run.

At this point I wouldn't mind The T being overtaken by DART. That might be kind of awkward though, as Fort Worth and Richland Hills pay a half cent and Grapevine pays less than a half cent, while DART requires a full cent.

DART & FWTA merging together with a neutral name would make a lot of sense..

I'm not saying it's dead... yet.

But at this point, I'd rather we just have a joint Transportation Authority with Dallas, sad to say. The T just can't seem to get its sh*t together...
