My husband and I recently moved to Southlake and I am in the need for a babysitter for my 4 yr. old and 20 mo. old. We would only need someone on an "as need" basis for special occasions or the occasional date night. Would anyone have any suggestions as to how I could begin my search? Thanks.

contact the closest YMCA--they do a babysitter course--maybe they would have some ideas--you might also contact a church you feel comfortable associating with--sometimes they have people who sit with the nursery who might take other work...

this is a very chancy thing to get babysitter "off the shelf" so to speak...w/o personal references...
what about your realtor...

The YMCA is a great idea! Thanks. I actually spoke with the realtor that listed the house that we purchased and she gave me the name of someone that I could contact. I just need to know who to reach out to in a city where I don't know anyone. Thanks for the suggestion.

You might want to try contacting your neighborhood association if you are in a subdivision. If your child is in pre-shool, try asking one of the teachers if they baby sit. Another good place is a play place like Kidztime (on Carroll) and Adventure Kids (on Southlake Blvd.).

I have a friend who uses Adventure Kids fairly often, and her son LOVES it!
