Is anyone familiar with the area around the LBJ Grasslands? We are horse lovers and trail riders and would like to live next to somplace like the Grasslands.

I grew up out in Wise county but moved away many years ago to the Dallas area. I am in the process of looking out to the country again, this time with family in tow, and find that laid back lifestyle again. The grasslands are great for horse rides..Between November to March I believe they are hunters out there, mostly in blinds but just FYI. A lot of people use the land for riding, and camping out, it is primitive though. Some small lakes, hills with some nice views, ( nothing tall like in California), And trees, mostly Oak, but some cedar and of course tall grass prairie. The area is used a lot because there are not many public areas around the metroplex for outdoor enthusiast. thankfully the grasslands don't advertise this and at times the area can be quite calming and peaceful, especially during the week. lands is very affordable, by California and even Near the Dallas area standards. Roughly 4 to 5,000/ac. for small tracts of land. Decatur, the county seat, is a nice small town with a lot of historical buildings. The town square there will take you back to another era, especially when they do antique auto shows up around the courthouse. My parents live out there NE of town off 51 and love it.
