Just found out today that my husband will be working in Fort Worth- near Monticello area. Previously, we thought we were going to be in N. Dallas. Nope! I have 3 weeks to figure out where to live. We plan to rent first. However, when we do buy, we will be looking for homes in the $250-350 range.

We don't have our hearts set on the suburbs. We are OK with both city and rural, but we would like an area with plenty of parks, trees, many families. We are Catholic and would like to try to find a good devout community and a Catholic elementary school. I remember loving Aledo, but I don't want to drive 20 minutes to take my kids to school. I also loved Joe Pool Lake area, so may look into Mansfield.

A final consideration is that I am a nurse and will find employment once I am in town- most likely at a Baylor or Methodist facility. I don't mind a commute of up to 30 minutes.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I'm on a time crunch!

76116 is a good area close to Holy Family- great parish w/ a small K-8 school. St Andrew, also a good parish and K-8, is a little bigger over by TCU but you might struggle finding a house on a good street in your price range.

I like Ridglea, Ridglea Hills, parts of Westcliff (76109), Arlington Heights, and Crestwood (pricier but you might luck into something).

The very family focused areas are zoned to highly rated elementary schools. Of course, your price point will be more challenging in those areas. Specifically Tanglewood Elementary and Lily B. Clayton. There is a loCAL real estate website that lets you search based on elementary schools. The zip codes where you will find these schools are 76109 and 76110 but you have to really verify that each house is zoned to those schools; as attendance zones don't always follow zip codes.
