Hats off to you and good luck!, though in my unfortunate personal experience. Most if not some contractors won't even work on something that is not theirs (the work I mean, as in they didn't start it) fully for liablility purposes.

It doesn't appear to be as difficult as it sounds. At least from what I have learned thus far. I have a engineer and designer that is helping me with schematics for all work to be done and the city for permitting. I have spoken woth a few subs who are happy to do work for me. In fact, the pricing I will pay them is the same they charge the pool builders.

what is the bottom line advantage of doing it yourself? I'm getting estimates right now and the numbers I'm getting are around $30k for a bare-bones pool to $40k "upgraded" pool with a better decking, pebble floor and better equipment, etc.
