For anyone who moved at some point in their lives from the NYC area to the Dallas/Ft. Worth area, do you miss New York? If so, what do you miss about it? What do you not like about Texas?

Since people from the Northeast do not see as much severe weather as they do in Texas, how do you native New Yorkers that have moved to Texas feel about the severe weather?

I moved from NJ to FW in 2006. I miss my family and friends from there. I miss the snow to a degree. I miss NYC. I miss NJ/NY style pizza and bagels. I miss the diversity of people. I miss the Jersey Shore.

Things I like about FW, in arbitrary order:
- much cheaper real estate
- big city and small town feel all in one city
- proximity to downtown (Sundance Square)
- meeting other transplants
- pleasant and nice people

TX does have severe and unpredictable weather compared to NJ, but we deal with it collectively. Good luck w/ your move!

Aw, beowulf, Texas as a whole hasn't grown on you yet? I understand the missing your family and friends, though. Maybe you can talk some of them into moving down?
