One more question: What are people's thoughts on North Hi Mount Elementary? It seems similar to Lily B Clayton when I look at some metrics, but it's hard to get real insight based on ratings, demographics, etc.

I'm not sure Keller really fits any of our criteria, though. It's the suburbs rather than the city, it's very conservative (70% for Trump in 2016) and religious, it's 94% white, it's far from the mountain bike trails I like to ride, and it's generally pretty vanilla and economically homogeneous and is kind of hard to get to from most places we frequent. That last point might be changing as the construction on 35 wraps (has wrapped?) up. I spend a lot of time in Southlake (and was in Keller last week), and those sorts of burbs just aren't what we're looking for. If we were going to go that route, we'd probably look at Grapevine to be near the lake.

We have friends with kids in both Lily B and North Hi and we have a neighbor who teaches at North Hi.

I hear positive things about both. The families at NHM are very engaged and seem to be very content with the school. The parents are PhDs, MFAs, MDs etc. The teacher we know there seems equally positive about the school. Some folks continue to drive their kids there even after moving 20 minutes away and having equally good options much closer.

Lily B is a high performing school and our friends there speak positively of it. OTOH, we know teachers who left there because they found the PTA and overall climate to be frustrating/ annoying, a bit like Tanglewood. These are not folks we know well, however, so I can't vouch for the clarity/soundness of their judgment.

Don't know that part of town however we do have friends (without kids so can't ask about the local schools) who live in the Westover Hills area. That's a very nice location that's fairly convenient to most things; it's about 5 miles to the Museum district etc.
