A friend and I are going to be moving to dallas/fort worth area at the end of the year and were planning to buy a house. we don't think we can afford a house over 170k and was wondering how good are the homes in the price ranges of 70-140k range? are they usually worn down or in horrible nieghborhoods? kinda curious as to what we are looking at.

check out any local MLS for houses in those price ranges
some are definitely better than others
that question covers too much ground to really get a definitive answer
and I guess you will buy someplace semi-convenient to where you work--so it is sort of moot point when you don't say where you are working...

There are some great neighborhoods within the price range. Watauga and North Fort Worth are good choices in that price range. Good schools help keep the neighborhoods up also both are in Keller ISD.
