I have just accepted a job in Leesburg, VA and am looking at moving to Frederick, MD. I am originally from Seattle, WA and lived in a community that reminds me of Frederick. I have found a great place in the downtown area. I am a single 39yr female and was curious if Frederick was a good place to live? It does seem a bit far out, but also seems like there is a lot to do.

Good place for singles and would you recommend moving there?

Thanks!

I live in Frederick and used to work in Leesburg. It's a very easy drive. I would definite recommend moving here. In terms of the nightlife and activities for singles, there is a fairly lively downtown bar and tavern scene in Frederick, and the area is full of activities as well. It's primarily a family town though, so if you're looking for fellow singles it may not be the best location

Frederick is also nice because it's so convenient to Washington DC- TONS to do there. Since you will be new, check out thingstododc.com- tours, events etc in the DC area, I enjoyed it very much when I was single and looking to make friends.

Sumerfn, IMO Frederick would be a great choice. The combination it offers in terms of a lively & attractive downtown area, while still remaining down-to-earth, is something that not always easily found. The singles scene for someone in their 20's might not be ideal, but for 30 or 40-somethings it would be much better. If you live downtown you can walk to a great variety of restaurants, and entertainment venues, including the Weinberg Center for movies, shows, etc. As spring arrives, you will see the locals out in the streets even more than they are now, enjoying their town and participating in the community.

I've been doing the Frederick to Leesburg commute on & off for about 5 yrs and it's not too bad. About 40 min. each way, and the drive is actually kind of scenic. Welcome to Frederick [if you decide to move here].
