I'm new to the area and just found an apartment in Ballenger Creek. Can anyone tell me how I would get the utilities turned on in my name? I don't know the name of any companies to contact.

We probably won't move until mid August so it's not immediate.

Congratulations on your move!

Allegheny Power would be your electric company. 1-800-255-3443.
Frederick Gas (a division of Washington Gas) would probably be your gas company, if you need gas for any reason. 301-662-2151.
Comcast Cable. 1-800-COMCAST.
Verizon. 301-954-6260.

Default Utilities in Middletown, MD

I came across this threads about utilities in Frederick, Maryland. Since Middletown is only 8 miles away, I wonder if the town uses same utilities as Frederick except for Water/Waste Services, of course.

If it's an apartment complex they should be able to get you all the info. I know for our electric we just had to sign a paper changing it from teh management company to our name and when we move out it will get transferred back. Same with water. We only have comcast available where we are for cable, internet, unless you want to do satellite. Verizon for phone

Thanks for sharing with me on utilities. I have plenty of time to prepare for my move to Middletown for my job in Frederick. I picked Middletown for its rural setting with natural beauty without sprawl and high crime rate in Frederick. Anyway, I am open to either apartments or houses for rent. However, I noticed that Middletown has about three apartment complexes since the town is small. Which apartment complexes are safe and attractive with nice people? Which ones should I avoid?

I can't really answer the question about what is nice and what isn't. We just moved here in May and since I haven't made any friends I don't get out much and don't know much about the area. Sorry
