Technically, I have enough clothes in my wardrobe. I work in an office on average 4 days per week and need slightly above business casual for that setting.

But I am bored with many of my clothes. And I don't have a huge wardrobe.

I've had some of my items for years. Surprisingly, some of my cheapest clothes are the ones that have lasted for 3-6 or more years. These are still in good condition and do not look out of style or out of date- classics like black work pants, white blouses, etc.

I'm trying to put more money into savings these days, so I'm fighting the temptation to buy more clothes.

I realize its simply due to being bored with much of the stuff I have, its not an actual need.

One of my weaknesses is shopping on-line. Its so easy to browse sites and find great clothing, sent to my door step with just a click of the mouse.

I wait for sales and buy in quantities so I always get free shipping. I also shop at stores I can return for free too.

I'm looking for any suggestions to help me resist these urges.

I can get hooked on internet shopping too......but it is easy to spend more than planned.

Now I have begun to buy smaller & less expensive items to change up clothes already in the closet...ie scarves, costume jewelry pieces can make white blouses and dark slacks into unusual outfits-think of the white/black as a canvas for introducing new/fresh colors or patterns without spending a lot of $. Winter-add colorful gloves, hats etc. And shop discount stores-they have a wide variety of accessories. Still get compliments on a wool scarf I got for $5 in the girl's dept at KMart. But I never tell that part...

It seems to satisfy the urge to buy something new while still leaving money in your pocket.

Good points - I do have a few colorful scarves- I can get a few more of those.

I also get compliments on cheap items. I have a black purse I got at Target 6 or 7 years ago for about $20. To this day, I still get compliments on it! It always surprises the heck out of me

Step away from the computer. (you did ask about how to avoid shopping online)

Seriously, think about the things you can do with some extra money - Try your clothes on in different combinations, maybe add a scarf, different jewelry, etc. - to make it seem mentally that you are wearing something new and different.

Consignment, Goodwill, and thrift stores! Plenty of great deals to add a little to your wardrobe at minimal cost.

what it comes down to, very simply, is that it is fun to buy new clothes.

I enjoy buying new clothes.

Its a habit that costs money.

I just need to decide how much I can realistically allocate to that habit.

Depends on what you consider "cheap" - I consider a dress under $25.00 cheap, and can usually find that on penney's website under the clearance section. I would rather shop clearance than buy used clothes.
