I usually avoid Black Friday/Thursday but I may go out this year because my husband needs new clothes and there are a lot of good deals on clothes. Also, my daughter needs a heavier jacket.

Most of the deals, look like hype to me. When you get there, items were extremely limited, and usually gone, unless you want to get into some cat fight with a woman who looks like Honey Boo Boo's Mom.

Forget it.

It is very sad indeed.

What is even more sad are these pathetic individuals who camp out in front of stores for days before these sales (news reports showed some people alreaqdy camped out in line last week).

I remember back in the 90's Kmart was open on Thanksgiving but only limited hours 12 to 5 p. Who knows in the future maybe all the stores will just be open 24/7 so we can just shop to our heart's contents. Not me!

I did my Black Friday shopping during the middle of the night.

Stores were pretty empty at that time.

I had no problem finding stuff, and the line to pay was very short.

The Walmart near me looked like it had been through hell. People must have rushed in when it first opened and tossed stuff all over the place.

Target was much nicer, and more organized.

And Best Buy was even nicer. They had plenty of staff all helping with questions, and all looked alert and friendly.

Some fights broke out, and people posted them on YouTube:

I worked the noon to 9 PM shift yesterday at Walmart and am very thankful that our store didn't look like that! It was pretty well organized and orderly, no fights and no problems. It was busy enough the time flew by and I was happy about that! I felt 'safe' behind my register. Today I expected it to be busier but it was, pretty much, a yawner. I guess they came last night and today's sale was mostly cell phones and tires so I guess most of us already have those. Steady business but not busy.

Was your Walmart was open during the daytime on Thanksgiving?

Or did you just start at noon to help prepare the store for an evening opening?

Well -- I never shop these first crazy days....

But the giver of the magical brown hot fluid is leaking badly.... and we NEED OUR COFFEE. So I will have to brave the crowds for my fix.

I usually hibernate on Black Friday, but I had to work this year. I was walking downtown, and everything was just like any other day. It was nice for a change. Though the last time I participated in Black Friday was when I was thirteen. Pushing my sister through a stroller through a crowded Wal-Mart and my mom freaking out over every deal made me realize it wasn't really worth it. Also, I tend to find better online deals.
