I buy in spurts. I'll go for long stretches where I don't look for anything, then look but don't find anything, then suddenly luck out. Last round of shopping I found shoes, shirts, pants, sweaters, PJs...all of which will last me for some time. I've never been into fashion (not knocking it) and have usually worked in a more "business casual" environment, so that's been a help. As for total spent or how it averages out per year, I'd have to dig back through records.

Same here. Spurts being only when needed. I do however have to spend more on shoes because of the work I do.
