It may take several months until they beg for more money and include address labels.
They may send other stuff also, like Note Cards, Small Stuff Toys etc.
That's ok. I'm sort of doing it for my Mom anyway. I thought I gathered up her notepads the various ones sent her and sad I can't find them. So, I need my own I guess!
All sorts of nonprofits send me them. I think I got on a mailing list through a magazine subscription and the rest is history. I have enough for years now, and they keep coming.
Disabled American Vets. My mother died more than three years ago, and they're still sending them. It seems you can't get off of that list.
Yep, that's the one I was going to mention. Gave them 25 bucks 3-4 years ago when my uncle died, and I've gotten tons of labels from them. Here's a few more I have gotten in the last few years (wow, I have a lot of labels in my kitchen drawer!):
North Shore Animal League
ASPCA
Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States
Eastern Paralyzed Veterans Association
The Nature Conservancy
Off topic, but Habitat for Humanity sends nice Christmas cards every year. I actually use them for enclosing with gifts.
If and when I ever need to I can print a sheet of labels myself however, I do very minimal mailing anymore. If you have Microsoft Word they have templates for every size label you would ever need or want. You can even print them on regular paper instead of purchasing expensive labels and then just tape or glue them to your envelope, if needed.
I also discovered years and years ago before my grandparents passed away (long before PCs were even thought of) that they would take every piece of junk mail they received, including catalogs, magazines, etc, and they would cut their address out and then use them as their return address labels by taping/pasting to any/all of their outgoing mail. It was frankly amazing back then how creative/thrifty/conservative/frugal they were and could be.
But, I also have enough labels from St Judes to last me 2 life times. It is a wonderful charity to donate to and also gets you a good supply of return address labels on an ongoing basis at a minimum of once a year.
Another option would be to get a self-inking stamp. I've been thinking about getting one of those after I run out of the labels I have.
This is what we use. Bought one for like $10 and still going strong after 4 years.
