I was at Dollar Tree yesterday and I noticed a lot of products had a price tag of $1.25.

The ones I noticed were the holiday decorations. Which I bought a couple of.
I thought my bill would be about $5, but it came out to almost $8.

Our Dollar-Tree was already part of the price hike evaluation.

I will say this, the number of items on the shelves have increased compared to the Dollar-Tree in the city that hasn't raised prices. It's not that our DT has more of the same items on the shelves, they have more variety of items on the shelves. The store appeared to have returned to pre-COVID variety with a few more brand names along side the WhoBThey brands.

Truth be told, I was seeing Big-Lots brand name variety just in munchkin $1.25 packages.

I generally do not shop at Dollar Tree or related stores because there are either none close enough to make it worth my while, or, they are not selling what I want. I mean, there is being frugal, and then there is being cheap.

It depends on what you buy from Dollar-Tree. Sure there are chepo junk but there are also deals or simply package size needs.

Many informed shoppers know how to spot brand name testers. These are major brand products packaged under a pseudonym. It could be a new scent, flavor, package design or color combination. A few months later that product is nowhere on their shelves but that same scent. color, package design etc. is on the retail store shelves 100% higher per ounce compared to Dollar-Tree and now under a major brand name.

And there are items that regardless of the brand name, it's all the same item. Baking soda is baking soda so why pay more elsewhere? Is the two dollar dollar bag of glass plant marbles really different from the dollar bag manufactured and distributed by the same company in the same bags with the same name and upc?

And why is the $1.99 Moon-Pies better than the $1.00 Moon-Pies?

I get trash bags there.
My baking parchment paper liner.
My kitchen scrubbers.
During Christmas and Halloween they have a four pack of old tyme candy ( gum drops, whoppers, gummy worms, smarties). My grandkids love these in their stockings or treats bag.
I prefer dollar tree for the simple use items.
And 1.25 is still way cheaper then the 4$ at the grocers.
I get greetings cards(birthday, retirement, anniversary) still 2 for 1$ there.

Yeah, me too. I read the news pretty regularly on my iPad and I don't remember seeing those articles. I went to DT today and everything was $1.25. Some things are still worth it, some things not at all worth a 25% hike.

The price hikes hadn't hit the Cedarbrook Plaza store in Philadelphia when I swung past last week. I guess they're taking time to roll them out.

Even at $1.25 for a 5-ounce bottle, A1 and Heinz 57 sauces will remain a great buy here.
