1) Goodwill

Usually if I need something (big ticket item) and don't mind buying used, this is the first place I head to. If I need to sell something really fast, I also head here and try donating it instead (and deduct taxes.)

2) Big Lots

If Goodwill doesn't carry it, this is my second choice.

3) Target

This will be where I buy it new as a last resort. Not to mention I get the 5% reward credit card discount.

4) Grocery Outlet

This regional (Western US) chain of grocery stores is great for deals of 30% or more (packaged foods, sauces, juices, soups, etc.) but they may not always carry it.

5) 99 Ranch

Probably the cheapest reliable place to get produce around here (there are other cheaper ethnic supermarkets but it may be of questionable quality.)

6) Trade Joe

The only place I go to get the occasional organic food. Also not a bad place for healthier varieties of premade food (i.e. sandwiches, wraps, etc.)

Ross - Nicer Mall clothes at 75 % off, bath and household items..

Goodwill - For suit jackets for interviews, dresses and skirts and some decent furniture pieces..

Walmart - For personal items, vitamins, some clothes.

Grocery Store - Low prices and you get money off gasoline/ per gallon. Like right now I have 45 cents off per gallon. Need to use it by end of the month or lose 10 cents...

TJMaxx, Marshalls, Ross (although Ross isn't so good in this area), Macy's (believe it or not, I've gotten some great deals, cheaper than TJ, Marshalls, etc.) - Goodwill and Salvation Army locally are really dumpy anymore (used to find nicer stuff, now it's old, washed out/worn out clothing, furniture worth nothing but priced high.....) I also shop all the grocery stores/drug stores (fortunate to have so many here) for the best prices.

Regularly Shopping + Frugal

I try to limit my (very little) buying to 'local or worker owned' stores

Food is almost exclusively from 'lost leaders' or weekly coupons at local grocers. (I personally have never found a bargain on Food at a Walmart, unless there is no other grocery nearby, usually in the boonies in TX or similar)
Costco for the once-a-month $4.99 Rotisserie Chicken (I get 20 servings from each)
Winco (employee owned) for Bulk products from Bob's Red Mill (employee owned) and other suppliers

Clothes I still wear stuff I bought in high school (in the 1960's) And a good reason to limit food intake (It helps to have bought 'quality' gear, most of those good ole USA manufacturers are no longer around)

Garage sales,
Thrift Stores (value village)

Junk yards (for car parts, but I prefer to buy a whole car for $30 from a towing auction)

Fertilizer and hay from the farmyard down the road.

I try to make it a habit to take 2 bags of junk out of the house for every bag I drag home.

Really dont do much shopping. Not a big shopper.

For food it's Cub Foods, Aldi, and Dorothy Lane Market.

For other stuff, say, Discount Drug Mart and Walgreens. Sometimes Home Dept.

For things like underwear and socks: Meijer

I usually dont buy clothes...actually pretty rare for me.

For things like jeans, boots, & belts and flannel its Sears, and somtime Meijer. Ive also got some stuff at army surplus stores (stuff like gloves, field jackets and sweaters) and places like Bass Pro, Gander Mountain, and Cabela (Cabela while on vacation since they dont have those around here).

For things like dress shoes, dress pants, dress shirts, sweaters, it's Brooks Brothers, Saks, Lazarus, LL Bean. This stuff I buy very rarely.

Dayton Sux, all of the sudden I'm seriously craving a Killer Brownie!

REI (the President's Day sale is awesome) and LLBean for clothes

Sprouts and Tony's (butcher) for groceries

Goodwill and similar are great places to pick up small appliances and particularly pots and pans - have a bunch of the old brown Visions glass cookware bought dirt cheap there. You can sometimes get coats and similar clothing at a very good discount.Bi-Mart - a local chain of discount stores, a lot of staples, motor oil, etc. from them.Winco for most groceries - don't have the best price on everything but overall hard to beat.Fred Meyer - good prices on certain items, and a lot of stuff that is hard to find elsewhere. Can also get cash back on my Discover card.Safeway - again good prices on some items, cash back on Discover, very close to work so I spend little time and gas getting there. Depending on what I need, sometimes it makes more sense to spend a bit more at Safeway than to slog to the far end of town where Winco does have a better price but if only picking up say $40 worth of grub it's not worth the gas and hassle of going over there. Trader Joe's - Whenever we visit Seattle - don't have one locally.

I actually find Sears to be higher priced on many items (clothing there especially).
