We have recently bought a house and it needs a lot of landscaping. We were contemplating getting a landscape designer to come in and draw up a plan and give us ideas, but in the meantime I want to plant cedars along the front of the house for privacy.

Do you think a single row would suffice or should we plant a double row?

And does anyone have any ideas or websites maybe that would help us plan our landscaping?

Thanks in advance for any help.

My dad had one for a while. IIRC, he planted them really close together in a single row. It was private and grew to about fifteen feet. Using a barbed wire fence while they are first growing can help prevent animals and kids from making paths through them.
