Has anyone tried to Bonsai a Canary Island Pine? or any other type of conifer?
I have grown a few from seed and would like to try and do this. Do I just top off the head as some point? is it possible to do this with the pine variety I have?
I also have some oaks that have just sprung, about 2 months old now and 7 inches tall.

I have several conifers, Sitka Spruce, shore Pine, Mountain Hemlock, Western Hemlock, Japanese Cedar, Ponderosa Pine and Deodora Cedar. Growing from seed means letting them grow out for 5-6 years until they have a thick trunk and flared base. Then you can chop the top, carve to look like natural forest die-off, wire the branches and start training as a bonsai. Very slow process that takes a lot of patience.
Wow bisjoe, those are really impressive! I especially love the Japanese cedar--amazing look! I have a couple of ***. cedars in containers on the front porch. Not bonsai, but they are beautiful.
Hmm, j-a-p period is filtered in my post above??? Odd...
