Do you have deer and birds? No fence protects from them. And squirrels.

I use poultry netting with metal fence posts, linked below. It's cheap and easy to cut. My backyard is full of birds, rabbits, squirrels, and chipmunks. It kept all of them out. I did have to put a top on it to keep the birds out. I just cut another piece of netting and laid it on top. It does block some sunlight and the garden isn't quite as pretty, but all those animals would have destroyed my vegetables.

Over the years on this property, I have accumulated a lot of branches and large sticks - enough this year for a waddle fence.

My neighbor is guilty of crape myrtle murder and abuse, but those cuttings are especially hard and hence I collect them.

No fence protects from squirrels neither. I put up a 4 foot tall chicken-wire fence around my raised bed and only watch squirrels climb up & down and went in for a buffet.

Our raised beds were invaded by critters last year (beans and peas) despite putting up some plastic mesh all around. Apparently, the holes were too big. This year we put 2’x8’ corrugated tin sideways along the bottom. They were around $15 each at Lowe’s. We attached them to the 2x4s that held up the mesh. Thankfully, we had a few panels from when one of our sheds fell down. Good luck.
