I found this 'volunteer' came out right in the middle of a perennial, I hope it is not weed as it looks nice & green, but I'll pull it out if it is.

Can anyone identify this? - THX

Even if it's a weed, keep it if you like it. Weeds are only plants that are growing where we don't want them. There is a beautiful feathery weed that I transplanted where I like it. Every time a new one pops up somewhere in the yard, I transplant it near the others. It's really quite stunning and offers great foliage for that spot in my garden.

HB2,
I have them. I love them. They are some kind of wild fern. I've had them
for years. They grow on the outskirts of woodlands.
Don't pull it out. It's cool looking.
They come back every year here, and can get big, looking even better.

Hope, thanks for the encouragement for keeping it. I guess I would just feel silly if it turns out be a weed.

B4U, thanks for the help as well. But, I checked google images for wild fern and pinus but neither match. I guess I can always wait for the HOA letter telling me that I have weeds in my flower bed

Picture to me is not clear but my guess is it looks to be a variety of 'thistle'.

Many perennials are technically weeds.

Transplant it to a place in your flower bed where it's next to plants of similar height. That way it blends and looks planned.

I don't think it looks like thistle. It's feathery looking. Can you take another picture up close of the leaves?

It is a very common weed found along roadsides and disturbed areas, especially in the south. It's a very bad idea for you to keep this once it blooms in your area in spite of all of the above recommendations to keep it. It is a weed that self seeds very very readily. It can get to be taller than 6 feet, by the way.
