Deposit in the hose from minerals usually plus in line rarely used to outside faucet. Now much depends on water content. Put water in a jar and watch the difference over time.

I have several outside hoses. The hose causes the foam. Especially the newer hoses; perhaps made in China? My old hoses do not foam - our water is pretty good. So we are curious what materials are in these newer rubber hoses that produce the foam?

You can check out your water/hose to. Just fill a bucket from your hose. Then take your hose off and then fill the bucket from the tap. See which one foamed. If it is only foamy coming out of your hose; I would suspect the hose.

Foamy sizzling water from Flexon Hose. I have the same problem with a brand new Flexon hose i bought from costco. When I use the hose after some time, all the water sitting in the hose comes out very foamy and it 'sizzles' until fresh water starts flowing through. Its been couple of weeks and still have the issue. It never happened with my previous hoses. Looks like poor product quality. I wonder if there are chemicals leaching from hose into the water sitting in it coupled with it heating up under the the sun? Is it safe to use for various applications like vegetable garden or your skin?

Here is one link that I just found on these foaming hoses: Is Your Garden Hose Leaching BPA, Lead, and Phthalates into Your Water? ~ Eco-novice. It does not paint a pretty picture of the chemicals that we might be exposed to. I have to wonder where our EPA sits on this issue - perhaps we should be watering their gardens?

Did anyone ever come to a conclusion what the cause for the foamy spigot water was? If not, any new theories or news of what this could be? Turned on a tap in a public restroom today (coastal Delaware) and out came not only foamy but foamy pink water, the color of pink liquid soap found in public restrooms! It felt a touch slimy as well. I immediately moved to the adjacent sink to wash my hands and the water came out totally normal. Very strange. What is this? Any thoughts?
Thanks.

Depending upon if the lines and been flushed that sink may not have been used since flushing.

In our case it is not the lines; it is the hose. We have hoses that do not foam and hoses that do foam. Usually, after we let the water run for a minute, the foaming goes away. But, if we take the hose off and run water directly out the hose bib; we have no foaming. The foaming comes from chemicals released from the plastic hose.

Wow. I don't have a garden, but wondered why my tap waters foamy. Kidney levels took a dive over the last 2 yrs and referal to a nephrologist; first thing he asked chemical exposure, more specifically lead.
Thanks for linking.
