I would like to plant an American flag, but I need help on what type(s) of plants to get. I would like them to be about 12-18 high and are able to grow in part sun. Thoughts?

Any posts here should include the USDA climate zone, so people know what will grow in your area. Impatiens, Petunias, or Pansies would work well but would be at the lower end of the height requirement. They are annuals that have a full bloom that will cover most of the green, for a better effect. Mums would work too, but unless you are in a warm climate where they can survive winter, buying them every spring would be expensive. I have 3 Hydrangeas in the front yard that are red, white, and blue.
