Can a 14 inch chain from a McCulloch gas powered saw be a tiny bit longer than a 14 inch chain from a Craftsman electric?
What's a chainsaw blade? Saw chain is standardized as far as pitch and gauge. Pitch refers to the distance between any three consecutive rivets on the chain, divided by two. Gauge is the thickness of the drive lugs or gear teeth that ride in the groove of the bar and are driven by the sprocket on the engine. Usually gas saws tend to use heavier gauge drive lugs and a slightly larger pitch chain, but enter the information about both saws here and see if you get the same part number for chains. If you do, they should fit:
What brand of saw chain does the manufacturer recommend. Not a question.
From what I can tell, Craftsman no longer makes the model we have. It's an old electric chainsaw. Our backup is the fuel powered McCulloch.
The S52 made by Oregon does match our model number and many others. We'll get one of those from Walmart and the price is under $13.
You could always take it to a small engine repair shop that deals with chainsaws for a proper fitting.
Hopefully some old crusty codger that's been doing repairs since the 1960's.
