This started growing in front of a friend's house in California.
It looks like some kind of squash? Any guesses?

Blossoms ARE about 2 inches across...and maybe 2+ inches tall if they are standing...

Leaves do NOT have any kind of a rough edge but there ARE little fuzzy things on the stem & leaves....

The leaves...the BIG ones are about 6 by 3 inches

There ARE little strings that come out from the stem and grab & tie to whatever is around.

The plant does NOT get a lot of water....which is why the ivy around it is dying....

Looks like squash to me. Yellow squash I'm familiar with but not other varieties.

Those are definitely some kind of squash flowers. Or something squash-ish, like pumpkin. The garden center next to me dumped all their unsold pumpkins in a pile last fall. This spring and summer, the pumpkins dang near took over the place! All from the seeds of the pumpkins that had previously rotted there.

I thought it might be pumpkin but wouldn't the leaves and flowers be a lot bigger?

Gotta admit, my neighbor's volunteer pumpkins did have large leaves.
