Not sure where to post this, but I figured if anybody knows insects....it would be gardeners. Do I have any worries ?

Yeah - looks like a wasp or a species of solitary bee. Did you put up a fresh-cut Christmas tree? I've had all kinds of insects show-up when I put a fresh-cut tree in the house. They are dormant in the tree until they come into the warmer environment.

I was also thinking of some sort of Bee....never seen one fly, have found them on the floor and other horizontal surfaces. No Christmas Tree, but I do keep half a cord of wood in the garage for the Woodstove. Time to set of some Bug Bombs
