Did you remove (unscrew) the hose and drain it?

I bet the reel/crank portion is as good as ever.

Fix it. Replace whats needed with good quality fittings.
And come fall prepare for the cold by draining it down.

I use cheap hose for my lesser used spigots, those I use to water one particular shrub/tree/bed, eg. a hose I won't be moving around.

The byzantine watering strategy I use for my front yard beds and boxes requires a good quality hose that can be pulled, twisted, pulled back on itself, an so on.

I was negligent and did not disconnect the hose from the box for the winter. I only disconnect the hose from the main spigot.

The plastic around the hose connection is all cracked and spewing water, so its not a simple hose connection repair.
