If your area has termites....rock. Bark mulch is like inviting them to a buffet. After they've finished the soup and salad bar, your house becomes the carving station.

We just switch from bark to rock. We had weed barrier under mulch and still spent a lot of time pulling weeds. We put plastic under the rocks. We will see how that works.
