Thinking about replacing my tree with something else. Can anyone help identify this?

1) Tree 1 looks straight out of Horton hears a who cartoon.

2) Tree 2 is sitting in the side of my house. Would like to replace it with tree 1. What tree / fruit is this?

3) Tree 3 is also pretty cool. Anyone have an idea?

We have pomegranate everywhere here. It's not that.. but just looks like the red plums you get at the market. I've got what I think are boxwoods in the backyard. When they were bare one year a Ferrell cat had kittens in the backyard and they had all climbed to different branches and were curled up sleeping. Looked like pom poms.

Similar color, most here are a bit more orange/red. The main thing is the pomegranate are very thick and tough skinned, the ones pictured appear thin skinned like plums. Also pomegranates have the end that looks like a bag tied closed. I can't find a plum photo that doesn't have purple leaves though.

Thanks everyone. Very helpful.

As for #2. I have pomegranate in my backyard. So it's not it. Should I cut the fruit to help better identify?

#2 is a nectarine and appears to be a long way from being ripe.

If you decide to get rid of that ponytail palm - check to see if there's a service near you that will transplant mature trees. (Like these - Commercial Large Tree Moving and Transplanting Services | Davey Tree, http://www.bigtreestoday.com). That ponytail is a good size and might be worth some money.
