Yea, it's hard on one circuit.

When we redid our backyard, we put shrubs on one zone and citrus/palms on another. It's the way most landscape companies should install a system. I'd definitely water every 7-10 days by hand for citrus if I was you and it should be a long, slow trickle from the hose over-night.

Today, I took a real close look at both the top and bottoms of the leaves. Other than browning and decay, the only thing I found unusual was black areas on some of the leaves as shown in this picture. Is this indicative of thrips?

Just saw the pics. Too much watering. Water once every 1-2 weeks.

Tree may be suffering from root rot or fungal growth. Tree may be able to recover.

Can you redirect/block the water that goes to just this one? And water it on a better schedule by hand? At least to keep it going till your friend returns and then your friend can deal with it.
