Anyone have a recommendation for a good residential Zero Turn mower that can take down a few acres in reasonable time? Seems to me that most of the Zero Turn mowers do not mulch by default and require an optional mulching kit, is that true?
I was thinking about an Ariens Icon X-52 or Toro Time cutter MX5075
Do not buy a John Deere 335e. I admit that I wrote the third review on this JD web site: https://e-marketing.deere.com/store/...ews.do?id=1734. Some people liked it; possibly they do not have the leaves I have? I complained to the company and they told me to buy the mulching attachment - why did they sell me the $600 bagging attachment if I can't use it?
I sold riding tractors back in the 1970s. I have never been on a machine that made me as dirty as this machine. The dust burn my eyes, clogs my nose, and I am filthy when I get off. Never again will I buy another one of their products. I will give anybody a real deal on the one I have just to get rid of it!
We bought a JD Z920M Commercial about 5 years ago, we have 6 acres. Best investment I could have made
It could be that I bought the bottom of their line and that is what I got. Or it could be my land and so many leaves to mulch? I don't know; but I did not like the official response and that was to spend more money on a tractor that I felt I never should have wasted my money on. I liked the tractors I sold back in the 1970's better than I liked my particular JD model.
I'm a homeowner with just an acre to mow and after much research into Bad Boy, Gravely, Big Dog, Scag, Toro, JD, Dixie Chopper, Hustler and Grasshopper I landed on the Gravely ZTXL "52" with a Kawasaki FR V-Twin engine and ZT-2800 Transaxles from a dealer not a big box. First thing I did was rule out any model with a stamped steel deck and only considered fabricated steel. Then I decided to rule out models without the serviceable transmission. After that it came down to frame and smaller features. Spoke to neighbors with different brands to get their feedback and also called service shops. I started early and it took me about 6 months to decide. It's been 3 years and still runs like new. Second place finisher was Big Dog Alpha. I know I bought more mower than I need but if I decide to use it to do other yards that won't be an issue. It's nice getting done quick. Neighbor has a JD lawn tractor and takes forever on less grass. Good luck with your search.
You just need one of these to keep your hands free,
I would consider one of those but I got my mp3/headphones on, maybe if they made one of those that had the beer stacked on the top of my head
