Hi there. About to pull the trigger on yet another mosquito control company. My yard is INFESTED with mosquitoes. The inspector determined that I don't have any visible standing water; however, our lot is very dense with vegetation. I have gardens with lots of foliage and hiding place, plus he believes that the mosquitoes are also drawn to the flowers. I do notice the area that has abundant flowers is the worst when it comes to bugs - I'm talking swarms, even in direct sun.

I can't, and won't, remove my flowering plants, yet I can barely stand it out there. I receive 18 bites in one day.

People talk about standing water but I've found that standing water isn't the only thing - the water aspect only takes about a teaspoon, which can be accompalished in a depression of mulch. What really causes high mosquito density are gardens/plants/flowers.

People also are against the use of pyrethroids (which is what the mosquito companies use) but I'm at the point where I have no choice, I need relief.

My question is do any of you have mosquito services service your yard? Does it affect your plants - i.e. leaf damage due to hot weather (I'm in Texas)? Do you have any spider mite outbreaks after use of the mosquito spray?

This year I'm trying really hard to maintain a sense of natural balance in my garden BUT THE SHEER NUMBER OF MOSQUITOES IS MAKING MY OUTSIDE LIFE VERY DIFFICULT. Help.....

Thanks

Just have it sprayed. Be mindful of the effects of chemical sprays on beneficial pollinators.

i have a bug zapper:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

im sure it would be super exciting to hear the bug zapper working when the sun goes down by you. probably be a huge massacre.

i also bought these:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

i decided to put those up also for some extra protection.

we have been outside a few nights so far and we have seen only a couple of bugs before sunset and nothing after sunset. i have decimated the bug population on my property.

I use this and highly recommend it to others. When I have company over they always wonder why I have no bugs around and I live in the woods

After a wet winter and early spring I started getting annoyed at all the mosquitoes and gnats around. I sprayed in May and there was a HUGE difference. I plan to spray again this month or before next get together. It works.
I DO NOT spray on my vegetable plants. I DO spray on my Pine, Arbs, and Fern trees. Also under deack and on foundation of home.
