If you just hate the aesthetics of white eggshells, you could try boiling them with used coffee grounds or tea to dye them a darker color ( https://blog.equalexchange.coop/dye-eggs-naturally/ ), then compost the whole mess, including the "dye". For a festive look, dye the eggshells bright colors!

We use a pitch fork in our composting bin to turn or over and aerate, which breaks up the eggshells. I’m surprised tumbling doesn’t do it. I was told to wash eggshells before putting in the bin to not attract critters. I wash them in sudsy dishwater and rinse before putting in the bucket under the kitchen sink.

I just rinse them with tap water and leave them to dry. I use residual heat either in the oven or on the glass cooktop after I cook or bake. Then I put them in a plastic container and just pound down with anything handy. These are for tomatoes in summer - put some in the planting hole and some around the plants often.

For composting, I rinse them and throw them in and that's it. The next time I see them, they're just part of the dark compost.
