Hello,
I want my lawn to be somewhat decent for next summer 2022. Its crap now and full of weeds. What should I be doing now in early October/FALL? I don't care about whatever grass I may have now. I am NOT open to hiring professional NOR sod. Also, I want to just have a bermuda lawn. I am in the atlanta, ga area.

Do I just put down some pre-emergent now for the winter and then wait til spring to do the heavy lifting? Or can I knock out some established weeds if it still warm enough for a herbicide spray post-emergent to be effective? I am worried that the increased shade in some areas during this time of year would further decrease the effectiveness of the spray herbicide.
