If I plant the roots outdoors in summer, they do pretty well all season, but if I try to keep them over winter indoors in water, they get slimy. I tried potting them last year, but they didn't do well that way, either, they simply dropped dead. I see all over that you can regrow them in a little water, and you can, but how do I keep them from turning into a bowl of slimy mush?
I watched on Youtube last night ,someone is growing scallions, onion, garlic in styrofoam box.
He also grow water melon and use plastic bowl to rest the water melon in the air instead of letting it grow big on the ground.
