Soil test kits for VA if the cemetery is there.
One would think that the cemetery maintains a proper soil pH.
Unless it is a relatively new-ish disturbed soil from the lower horizon?

The burial date was November 2019.

The cherry casket was a quality one down 6 feet deep in the soil, with no vault or liner.

That helps. I take back the comment about soil.

OP I thought the cemetery maintenance personnel maintain the lawns. Ours does at 2 separate cemeteries at our family plots.

You are correct. However, most of the area in the cemetery looks fine. The owner of the cemetery allows me to improve the condition of this particular plot.
