Fungus on St Augustine Grass Using Cornmeal (lawn, bugs, insects)

I think my front yard lawn has fungus. The grass is turning brown and kind of dying. I read about cornmeal curing fungus so I put some cornmeal yesterday and watered the grass.

Does anyone has any experience with cornmeal and killing fungus? Also how often should I use cornmeal?

youre in houston right? it could also be insects. cinch bugs i believe is a huge problem around here. my yard was uber green a month ago but now I have a rather small brown patch
