I've been going through boxes of old pictures, etc, and can identify most of them. Those I can't identify, I can make a guess. But one picture has me completely stumped. Its a funeral picture, some guy in what looks like a silverplated casket. There's a ton of flowers and Boston ferns. Certain clues in the picture indicate it was in the 1930's, such as the light fixtures, the style of clothing, etc.
Its in a folder, which indicates a funeral home in Detroit. I tried googling the funeral home, but just found a vacant lot.
I have no idea who this guy is. Is there someplace you can post old pictures for identification? I will try posting it here, too, when my "consultant" returns from a trip--AKA my dh.
I don't have an answer to your question, but during WWII they (military) used "silver" stainless steel caskets. I have only seen them but don't know when they were first, or last, used.

It could be! I can't tell from the photo if its silver or stainless steel, but a clue!
