I've went to school with a couple of kids named Butt. Also Fink. In the 60's being called a fink was much worse.
I've discovered, while reading census lists, a lot of Slutts. I was pretty surprised to discover my family has lived among Slutts for a couple hundred years.
It's a German name and pronounced sloot. When hearing family members talk about them (a much-respected farming family) I'd always assumed it was spelled Sloot as well. Nope.
I just saw some name records, and a wealthy, established family in Virginia has "Butt" as their last name. Women are still marrying into it.
I wouldn't want to live a single day with that name.
I would change it if it was me.
