So one of the main reasons I did the dna test was because I never met my maternal grandmother and know next to nothing about her family. All I know is that her family was from Hungary. My dna results came back as 10% from the Caucasus region, which includes Turkey, and I know that the Hungarians had a lot of contact with the Turks at one point. Based on the results, can I assume that my grandmother was at least part Turkish?

I suppose its possible, but I wouldn't make such an assumption without more to support it. Do have have any DNA matches with people with strong Turkish roots/family trees? This could help with such an assessment, but even that wouldn't be foolproof.

Not necessarily. If the Hungarians and Turks had a lot of contact, they probably share a lot of DNA, which means some of your Hungarian DNA may just be showing up under Caucasus.

Okay, makes sense. Like I said I really know nothing about her family and neither does my mother, so I'm just trying to piece things together as best I can.

Well the Hungarians themselves are said to originally be from Western Siberia and migrated to where they are today, so if the tests go that far back I guess they would be considered West Asian.

10% is too low, could be your great grandmother or great grandfather

Which test did you take? It really matters which test you took to get appropriate feedback. And what do you know of the ancestry of your other three grandparents? Depending on the test, "Caucasus" could mean different things. With one test I get 6% "Asia Minor" (which is Turkey) but I know I do not have any ancestry from there. Other tests do not give this result.

Here is my Eurasia K9 test from Gedmatch, and it shows I am 9.88 Caucasus too. It doesn't mean I am turkish.

I took the Ancestry test. My other three grandparents were primarily Italian, which came up on the test, so it could not have been from them.
