Hm, well, searching for Philadelphia County in Ancestry's search always brings up results for Philadelphia city?

There was a cemetery in North Philadelphia that was reallocated around the turn of the 20th century and the people buried there were moved to a cemetery in Montgomery or Delaware County (I forget which). I found that out while researching a murder in one of my families.
I think there's been a lot of cases of that, since land is so needed in the city.

I'm not sure how Ancestry's search engine works, but I've had some odd results that defied logic.

Yes, searching for Philadelphia County should bring up the city of Philadelphia, except prior to the consolidation, when it will also bring up separate municipalities which became neighborhoods within the city after the consolidation or, in some cases, the name changed. For instance, most of North Philadelphia was Penn Twp prior to the consolidation.

Someone resurrected an old thread on the Philadelphia board asking if the city should deconsolidate. Someone posted a preconsolidation map. It may be helpful to you.
