I was in Dublin this week and went to the EPIC Irish Immigration exhibition and thoroughly recommend it if you go to Ireland seeking roots. For a fee you can consult with a genealogist on site, which I did. He was helpful in explaining records and family movement (there generally wasn't much internal migration). One of my theories was wrong and one is probably right on my mysterious Morans.

What's the range of years for records are we talking about? How far back do they go? I haven't really focused on my Irish roots yet, but it seems some might have come over to America in the 1700s.

You may be out of luck. The census records burned and church records generally won't go bavk that far. In Tralee the church records go to the 1770s but that is unusual.

Does the genealogy goto other areas of Ireland outside of Dublin? All my recrods indicate Tyrone but Ancestry DNA has us in other areas.

Yes, they have records across Ireland. I'm not sure about Northern Ireland but the EPIC exhibit includes Northern Ireland so they may be able help with people there as well. If you pay for ac consultation you get a month free access to the data online. There is a lot online already. They can explain things that we might not know which I found most helpful.

Hi everyone,
Try searching Irishgenealogy.ie. Go to civil records.
It’s free and once you get sorted , to the screen
“ Search Creritia “. “ If you want to jump to Search all Records “
Press “ More search options “

Put first name, surname. “ just say you want a marriage “
Tick ✔️

If you don’t know which county in Ireland, it will bring up
all where that name was listed. County’s on the left of page.
At the bottom of said list there should be the year 1800 & 1900.
Plus a small “ envelope “. Touch it and you should get the years.
Now say you have the one which is right .

Touch the marriage of said name.
You should see a page of the registration of marriage.
The marriage, hopefully is on that page.

Here is where you can see any children born.

You have all search options , empty.
Enter in the surname of the man, Enter surname of the woman,
Enter for birth . Then search.

The deaths will be first names & surname or just surname only.
I have just add this to help you, Iam sure you’re work it out.
Will try to help any one who gets stuck.
Yes it covers all Ireland.

Take care and please stay safe, till this ****s over.

Billy.
