For those who haven’t had their dna tested, its fun and interesting, and the more people who do it, the more interesting it gets.

Thanks to Ancestry dna, I had a first cousin turn up who nobody knew about, including her. She had no idea that the man who raised her was not her father, but always looked so different from her siblings that she felt like something wasn’t right. Her mother finally told her the truth.

Since then, she has visited our 93 year old aunt, who was delighted to meet her.

As always: "Offers available for new and returning subscribers only and not for renewal of current subscriptions." Like so many companies, they are glad to slash prices to attract new bizness, but have no interest in cutting long-time subscribers any slack. I know I can play the game of periodically canceling then waiting on a special deal, but should that really be necessary?

You really should cancel so that you get it at the lower price. I sure wouldn't pay full price for it, not purposely anyway. I did by accident.

Thanks for the notice! My "gift" subscription ends Jan 6th. I'll have to wait until the 7th to renew as my account currently indicates I can renew now at an exorbitant price.

You may miss it if you don't do it now. You have to go to your ancestry settings and cancel the renew option, then go to ancestry and buy the new rate. The sale says the 9th. Wait a day before signing up to make sure it canceled. I had that issue where I had to do it twice.

^^^ Thanks for the DM. I went back and checked my account and it appears that there is no automatic renewal because it was purchased as a gift subscription. I'll confirm my subscription is cancelled before I attempt to purchase the new subscription.

I just called them and they did everything for me. You most certainly can purchase a gift subscription for yourself. They had to cancel my auto renew. When my current subscription ends the gift subscription kicks in. So it is doable, just not obviously so.
