Unknown, can't lock down which branch of the family my 4x grandfather came from, born about 1820. Last name Coppage if anyone is a distant cousin.
MO (1840 - 1860)
This 4X grandfather moved to MO in the 1840s, but I can't recall which county off the top of my head.
The Puritans went from Ipswich East Anglia to Ipswich Mass in 1630. They eventually moved on to Adrian Michigan and then to Detroit. Chicago was as far west as they got.
The London and Welsh Quakers came to Jamestown. They later fled to what would become Baltimore during the crackdown of dissenters under Governor Berkeley. The descendents of the two families intermarried for 150 years. My g-g-g-grandparents were the last cousins to marry. By then they had become Baptist.
Some stayed in Maryland, some went to Philadelphia but most returned to Virginia. They were farm folk in Spotsylvania, Orange and Louisa counties.
Quite a few went to San Francisco after the Civil War.
The Kentish folk on my father's side came to Charleston SC. After the Revolution they settled on their land bounty in the Florida panhandle, Marion County named in honor of Francis Marion, Swamp Fox.
They have by in large stayed in Florida, Tallahassee, Sarasota, Panama City, Gainesville, Blountstown.
Old Florida.

Hey, maybe we're related! I had a family in Ipswich MA; they both d. 1654. Most of my maternal ancestors were Puritans who lived in the various Mass Bay Colony settlements like Ipswich, Salisbury, Newbury, Amesbury, Rowley. Some went to Bristol, RI, then to Saybrook, CT and then on up the Connecticut River to the Canadian border and back down again in later generations. Most families went straight up the Connecticut River Valley through either Vermont or New Hampshire.
Some places of residence were:
Northampton, MA, Farmngton, CT, Hartford, VT, St Albans, VT, Londonderry, NH, and some ended up living in Quebec due to border changes. Mostly they were farmers and moved northward in search of better land.
Paternal side 1890s-early 1900s: Chicago. 1920s-1950s: Los Angeles
Maternal side: 1634-1700s: New London, CT; Bolton, CT; Ipswich, MA; Granby, MA; Keene, NH; Harpursville (Broome County) NY; 1870s-1900s: Rock Port, MO; Brownville, NE; Auburn, NE; Stirling, NE; Tustin, CA; Long Beach, CA; Burbank, CA.
I think lots of us have links back to Ipswich, MA! My 12x great-grandfather was James Howe, and lived near the corner of what is now James St and Howe St. The amazing thing is he lived to age 104 (born 1598, died 1702) and his lifespan included parts of three different centuries.
