Sunny, if you have a library card you can get free access at home for Heritage Quest. Rootsweb & USGenweb are also good. Let me know if I can help.

These are two of the best--I've gotten probably 80% of the information I've gathered from these two sites and I've used them both for ten years.

Often there's a discount to sign up the first time. So when it's time to renew, just do it under someone else's name & share the account?


BTW: I found my half sisters by searching classmates.com... And sometimes when you refuse to re-sign up, a pop up window will come up offering a year for under $15.

The Mormon Church site is TOTALLY free [including the software to compile everything]

I have used it extensively, but, be aware that it is NOT the most accurate owing to the fact that many people will add names of pseudoancestors.... cross check closely.....but I LOVE IT.

You can also try Random Acts of Genealogical Kindness Free Genealogy Research -- Random Acts of Genealogical Kindness . These are people who will do free look ups, since you can't find everything on the internet.
