I want to move a large 55" rear projection TV from San Jose to LA, residential to residential. This large TV stand on floor and is quite heavy.

What is the most economically way to ship this? Thank you.

Sell it and buy a new flat screen.

option 1: Rent/find a friend with a pickup truck, cover it with blankets, tie it down, find 4 friend to help you move it.

Option 2: ... Hire a mover ....

Option 3.. Maseman suggestion.

It is not worth moving. But, if you really want to move it, get a u-haul truck, and drive it there yourself.

U-Haul 4'x8' cargo trailer is $77. Do you think bounce around inside the trailer would probably done it in? A 10' U-Haul truck is $280 from San Jose to LA.

How best to sell it here? How much can I get for it? It is a floor model, Toshiba 57H82 in 2002. Everything works excellent. Some buttons in the remote has sticky problem. Got a generic remote.

i just looked up this tv and it's over 200 pounds. it would be such a hassle to get it into a box/container, pad it, lift it into the truck, drive it to LA while worrying about it, get there and find people to help you get it out and possibly lift it up several stairs in this heat, etc. if you bought a new TV you could get delivery guys to carry it into your house so you wouldn't have to bother, or you'd just have to find people to bring it into the house from outside. have you tried listing it on a site like craigslist or ebay? even that is a pain in the ass because you'd have to find a way to ship it and/or deliver it. man.

I would list it for about $250 OBO ("or best offer") on craigslist. It's almost 10 years old...it's really outdated by today's standards. Specifically state that the buyer has to pick up.

We used to have a TV similar to yours. It was a 48" Mitsubishi HD-ready set. Weighed about 180 pounds. Ended up selling it for about $400 (this was three years ago) via classified ad in the local paper. Local guy brought a buddy and they loaded it into his pickup truck. Used blankets and straps to secure it. Not really a big deal if you have a couple guys with some muscle.

Just get the money BEFORE they load it. Then it's their problem!

I once had a house full of furniture, all of it old and shabby. I just posted on CL, got $25 for each piece, as long as they hauled it away. Saved me the hassle of getting rid of it.
