hey guys, I hope this is the right forum. Wife and I are buying a house in the same neighborhood we live in.
Both houses are 2 stories. We are doing a self move. We moved here to the current house about 10 months ago, we left a lot of stuff still packed, and we really don't have that much nice stuff.
Black Friday I picked up a 400# capacity handtruck(I know its cheap made in China junk, whatever its was a $25 black Friday deal) and some straps. So far works great taking stuff down stairs and around on the ground.
My problem, just a test run, it seems to suck going up stairs. My current stairs have a slight lip at the top so the wheels get a little caught up. I think my new place might have the same I will have to double check.
I will also have to move a washer/dryer upstairs at the new place.
I will be renting a uhaul twice. I know I can rent an appliance folley and a regular handtruck from them. Are they decent or total junk?
Also think just look into a set of bigger wheels, maybe air filled ones.
If the existing handtruck isn't designed for air filled tires, they most likely will be a hard fit.
As Stillkit stated --- the appliance variety is very good for stair as long as the rubber tracks are on the back to 'slide up' the stair as you pull up.
On a side note -- you can move the washer and dryer up the stairs with the regular dolly, but you'll need someone under the appliance to push up as you pull up, otherwise you'll have a terrible time getting the washer up.
