anyone have any ideas for me......I don't have enough stuff to warrant spending the money on a budget truck, with a car dolly. And too much stuff to fit in my car.........<<ggggrrrrr>> The pods are also huge. A trailer would be the best, but with the age of my car it would cost the same to get a hitch installed as renting a truck. Anyone have any ideas? It is just me moving/ or it wouldn't be such a dilemna.

Also, I may not have a drop off point if I do something like bulkhead or pod transportation because I may only have a temp address, like a monthly hotel/motel method.

Well, one of the primary benefits of doing a POD thingy is that you can keep it in storage until you have a permanent address.

Unless you have stuff you really don't want to part with, you may be better off selling your possessions and buying new once you are settled.

^^^ Agree with that ! Movers usually charge by weight and stuff, so most of the times you end up paying more on transporting the product than the actual cost of it, especially with things like crockery, glass items etc Unless you have some really valuable stuff, or something you dont want to part with, you may be better off selling it and buying new stuff. Put in a garage sale or something, sell of all the smaller stuff, hang on to things you really need, maybe the bigger things like furniture etc, hire a mover and get it transported. You can cut down on the expenses that way and many usually store it for you at no extra charges for a month or so, until you are settled down.

The bigger Pods only holds a little over 1,000 sq ft of stuff. 8x8x16. I don't know how much stuff you actually plan on moving but you might be surprised how much stuff you actually do have. Liz

Have you considered renting a regular passenger/work van & towing your car with it? You will have more space, but not so much more that you feel like you have wasted your money.

We used Store to Door, they are containers and they will also store them and deliver, there is also another company Door to Door. Both companies offers smaller containers than the pods. I am not sure where you are located at but there may be other companies like them. I was really pleased with Store to Door.

May sound a little nutz but this is what my son did. He was moving from CA to TX but his house wasn't finished yet. He was in the same boat as you, too much for the car but not enough for a truck. So he calls UPS, packs everything up and has it shipped to the inlaws house. From there he moved it into a small storage unit for 30 days. I have no idearz what he paid for the shipping but he said it was less money and hassle than renting a u-haul.
